Selecting Knowledge Builder Server Location

By default, a Knowledge Builder Client targets the Server location defined during installation as its primary content connection. This location is called the System Default Server. The targeted Server location can be changed during run-time without closing the Knowledge Builder Client, restarting the computer on which the Client is running, or uninstalling/reinstalling the Client.

Determining or changing the current Server connection can be helpful in troubleshooting Knowledge Builder access problems, provide alternative content locations when a remote Server must be upgraded or taken off-line, and provide a simple method to improve Client performance or reduce network traffic impact.

TIP

Targeting a non-local Knowledge Builder server location requires the drive location to be mapped.
